Wenn ich als Kind eine Idee hatte, hieß es oft:
„das kannst du dir aus dem Kopf schlagen, das wird nichts, das ist Zukunftsmusik, kannste vielleicht später mal machen.“
Nun, es gibt viele Gründe, genau jetzt einen Blick auf „später“ zu riskieren.
»zukunftsmusik« will beitragen und einladen zum Diskurs über positive Zukunftsvorstellungen.

When I had an idea as a child, the response was often: „You can forget about that, it’ll never work, it’s just a ‚future music‘, maybe you can do it later.“
Well, there are many reasons to take a look at ‘later’ right now.
»future music« wants to contribute to and invite discussion about positive visions of our future.

Was meine ich mit ‚zukunftsmusik‘? Musik, wie sie in der Zukunft klingen könnte? Musik zu Ideen, Erkenntnissen, Ausblicken hin zu einer lebenswerten, nachhaltigen Zukunft? Oder wie unsere Musikpraxis aussieht? Meine oder unsere Zukunft?
Die Fragen bilden einen Türrahmen zu einem Raum künstlerischen Nachdenkens und Erkundens, des Spielens und Einfühlens.
In den letzten Jahren begann die Überzeugung zu reifen, dass wir einen Diskurs zu positiven Zukunftsvorstellungen brauchen, um zu wissen, wofür wir uns einsetzen wollen und müssen.
Doch nicht nur einen Diskurs brauchen wir. Neue Geschichten und Bilder, Figuren und Musik werden es sein, die uns bewegen und Vorstellungen fühlbar machen, so klein und fragend sie beginnen mögen. »Neues wird erst denkbar, wenn es eine Gestalt bekommt, wenn es sichtbar und hörbar wird, wenn es emotional berührt.«, sagt Philipp Blom in „Das große Welttheater. Von der Macht der Vorstellungskraft“ (Wien, 2020)
Aus dieser Idee heraus sind inzwischen einige Kompositionen entstanden.
So beginne ich nun mit ihnen dieses Blog –
mit der Einladung mitzudenken, teilzuhaben und – als Teil eines weiten Myzeliums –
beizutragen.

What do I mean by future music? Music as it might sound in the future? Music that reflects ideas, insights and visions of a sustainable future worth living in? Or what our musical practice might look like then? My future or our future?
These questions form a doorway to a space of artistic refection and exploration, of playing and empathising.
In recent years, the conviction has begun to take shape that we need a discourse on positive visions of the future in order to know what we want to and must stand for.
But it is not just a discourse that we need. New stories and images, characters and music will be what move us and bring these visions to life, however small and tentative they may begin. »New ideas only become conceivable when they take shape, when they become visible and audible, when they touch us emotionally« says Philipp Blom in „Das große Welttheater. From this idea, a number of compositions have now emerged.
So I am now beginning this blog with them –
with an invitation to join in the thinking, to participate and – as part of a wide mycelium –
to contribute.
